Service Description

This class is for all levels is based on guided improvisation and exploration of the many different ways our body can move in space. We will also explore contact improv with others if desired or other surfaces/ objects. We will explore using the floor as your dance partner as well. Dancers will also learn choreography skills and have the chance to practice their skills as a soloist, groups, or duets. Dancers will move to music and try fun exercises that help them cultivate their unique voices as movers and artists.Seasoned improvisers can expect to play, move freely, and compose dance in the moment with live musicians. Improvisational scores are given to help dancers develop their unique voices. Movers will dance as soloists, with partners, and in group forms. The last day of class will end with an optional performance where teacher from the studio will judge the performances for fun and also give out special awards. Great chance to get some feedback on your dances you made up over the summer. No prior improvisation or dance experience necessary. Seasoned improvisers welcome. Contact is optional. Suggested Attire: • Comfortable clothing in which you can easily move. Leotard optional. • Bare feet, dance socks, or contemporary dance/lyrical shoes/foot undees (these can be purchased in our store).
